Week 1
Lesson 1: Introduction to Autodesk Revit & Interface Basics In Lesson 1, students are introduced to Autodesk Revit and the fundamentals of Building Information Modeling (BIM). This lesson lays the foundation for the entire 4-week course by helping learners understand how Revit works and how it is used in real-world architectural and construction projects. Students will learn the difference between CAD and BIM, and how Revit enables intelligent 3D modeling with automatically coordinated plans, sections, and elevations. The lesson covers the Revit workspace, including the Ribbon, Properties Palette, Project Browser, View Control Bar, and Navigation tools. Learners will also explore project setup basics, such as: Starting a new project using templates Understanding levels and grids File types and project organization By the end of Lesson 1, students will be comfortable navigating Revit, managing views, and understanding the BIM workflow, preparing them to start actual modeling in Week 2.

Lesson 2: Basic Building Modeling & Core Tools In Lesson 2, students begin hands-on building modeling in Revit, applying the interface and BIM concepts learned in Lesson 1. This lesson focuses on creating the core structure of a building using Revit’s essential architectural tools. Students learn how to model walls, doors, windows, floors, and columns, understanding how these elements are parametric and automatically adapt to design changes. The lesson emphasizes accurate placement, alignment, and modification of building components using tools such as Align, Trim/Extend, Offset, Copy, and Mirror. Key topics covered include: Creating and modifying wall types Inserting and editing doors and windows Modeling floors and structural elements Working with levels and constraints Understanding object properties and dimensions By the end of Lesson 2, students will be able to create a basic architectural model with proper levels and components, developing confidence in Revit’s modeling workflow and preparing for advanced elements like roofs, stairs, and documentation in the following lessons.
